Senior Land Management Advisor
I was born and bred in the back blocks of Taihape where I spent my early years before the family moved to the Manawatu Region. I have spent many fine years at Massey and Lincoln University studying science and resource management. Since then, the Primary Industry and farming has dominated my career to date with recent experience in the Regional Council space.
What Is Important To Me?
I am really interested in the connections between people and land, as that is where we bring effect to our futures. I like to see farms (and farmers) being prosperous based on sound business that is aligned with their land base.
What Happens Out Of Work?
When time and family allow, I enjoy chasing the odd trout. In the absence of that, I am lucky that I get to spend lots of time with family interspersed with watching the odd game of footy and lacing up the running shoes for a bit of torture.
Some Of My Learnings –
Truly achieving the simple life means you have to understand and manage the complex. The issues farmers face today around markets and the environment are very complicated and variable. Some of the best operators in this space are people who are comfortable with uncertainty. They achieve this by understanding as much as they can about their land and business and how the two are connected.
